How would you feel if you knew the person next to you would one day be a wise president of the United States, cure cancer, or die saving your life? I think I would feel honored to have met such a person and would want to honor him or her! As a Christian, I want to honor Jesus because He died to save me, but the Bible also says that "when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is." (1 Jo. 3:2b) That means the brother beside me, even the one behaving so badly I wonder if he believes at all, will one day be as perfect and loving as the One who died for me. So will those who hate God now — but will love him later. God says that whatever we do or do not do "to one of the least of these" we do to Him Himself! (Mt. 25:40, 45) Is it any wonder God says to "Honor all men." (1 Pe. 2:17a)? — Timothy N.G.
